Updates

1/23/06
I've been working all day and have just put the final touches on a revised version of "In Another Life." I started by commissioning a local artist, Jessie Stuart, to redraw the illustrations for one of the interviews, and then of course I started noticing things that had been bugging me for some time. Some of the improvements were made possible by my new editing system, an iMac with Final Cut Express HD editing software. Whereas I've been making excuses for it as a "low budget production," with this latest round of changes, there's not much I feel I need to apologize for anymore. A $50,000 budget for things like location shooting and re-enactments would have been nice, but barring that (and given that I don't even like the current "ADD" style with every special effect but the kitchen sink thrown in, and that I don't want to portray reincarnation as being weird), I feel like it's finally arrived.

So, very soon it will be ready to send to three distributors--Films Media Group, who has already accepted the film for distribution to colleges and libraries (and will be getting this revised version at the 11th hour); a distributor in Canada who will be approaching broadcasters there; and a distributor in Greece who is interested in having it translated.

That means that while the wheels sometimes grind slowly, this project is far from stalled, as it sometimes appears to be. If "In Another Life" continues to be unknown in America, I think there's a chance that it will be seen a lot more overseas. Maybe it will have to gain a foothold there in order to build enough credibility to make headway here.

Update to the update: as of 2/28/06, Bolero Telecommunications, Inc. in Greece has signed a contract for distribution rights in that country.

Best regards,

Stephen S., Producer

All I can say is, if you have a chance to see Eric in concert, don't pass it up...
sell the car and hitch to the concert if you have to. (look for video on above page of
"When The Sun Meets the Sky", and the link to his recent NPR interview)
