After a full week of non-stop computer troubleshooting, I've produced a DVD version of "In Another Life". The DVD will cost the same price as the VHS tape, $25, but will include three additional interviews with experts seen in the film: Robert Almeder, Roger Woolger and Tom Shroder. [note 1/13/04, Dr. Woolger's interview had to be removed from the DVD for space considerations, but now can be viewed on the Clips section of this website]. Each interview is approximately 8 minutes long, unedited except for occasional dips to black. For awhile, the DVD will only be available on this website; at some point I may offer it through the 5-6 other websites which carry it. Note that these DVD's are created on a computer in +R format. They may not be compatible with all DVD players [no complaints so far as of 1/13/04]. I will exchange for a VHS tape or refund the purchase price if they don't play on your machine.
While I was at it, I made a couple minor modifications to the show itself. I took out my on-camera introduction as producer, and inserted an introduction by host Chris Shaw, who takes more of an "everyman" stance than I did. I also slow-motioned one nature shot, and placed the URL at the head of the credits rather than at the end, so it is more likely to be seen. Otherwise this is the same film I've been shipping out on VHS. The VHS tapes I send out from now on will reflect the changes as well, marked as "version 2."
On other fronts, Bruce Joel Rubin, writer for the movie "Ghost", viewed the tape at my request and made some very kind comments. I have copies out to some other notables, but typically they are extremely busy and have trouble finding time to look at material sent to them. I also have a tentative radio interview set up with WRFG here in Atlanta in the evening of Feb. 8 [definite, now Feb. 22], during which they may play portions of the documentary over the radio. Wisdom TV has officially accepted the show but my contact's supervisor hasn't called me yet to wrap up the final negotiations (as of the last couple months). My producer/advocate at the New Jersey PBS network definitely wants to see it broadcast there, but her supervisor apparently doesn't believe in reincarnation and doesn't want to broadcast it. I told my contact that I was hoping maybe he'd have a reincarnation experience himself, like his child or grandchild speaking of a past life. She (my producer-contact) told me that her daughter had spoken of a past life in which she had repaired locomotives!
Recently I wrote e-mails to about 1,500 carefully-chosen college professors (based on their on-line bio pages). I got two or three strongly supportive letters, a couple sarcastic negative ones, and I got orders for about 30 tapes. So sales were running right about at 2%. I'm very pleased, inasmuch as "In Another Life" may be shown to college students in the classroom, stimulating discussion on reincarnation.
I'll have the DVD for sale on the Tape Orders page as soon as it's field-tested.
Best regards,

Stephen S., Producer

Music opening this page: "High Landrons," Eric Johnson (Ah Via Musicom album)
All I can say is, if you have a chance to see Eric in concert, don't pass it up...
